Summer Fun

So it's just one day shy of a month since I last posted...  Time for an update.

July 3 ~ We spent the day at Jeff's aunt and uncle's house for a "Fourth of July" barbeque.  Emmaline got to take a dip in the adult pool with daddy and then a crawled around the kiddie pool with all her baby cousins.  The sad part of the day was when she got stung by a bee.  Auntie Bree jumped into action and got some Benadryl on it right away.  Eventually her she stopped crying and then it was like nothing ever happened.  Hopefully the next one will be just as painless.

July 4 ~ We enjoyed a fun day at home in Coulee.  We took a walk down to the park in front of the dam and then went to a friend's house for barbeque and fireworks.  Emmaline did very well for her first time watching fireworks.  She only cried a couple times when they were too loud.

July 5 ~ We headed over the mountains to visit my parents.  We had a picnic at Gene Coulon park with my friend Kristin and her boyfriend Steve.  Then the next evening we enjoyed a lovely dinner out with my grandparents and parents.  And of course we just had a nice time relaxing.

Can you see all 5 of her teeth?

July 11 ~ After returning from my parent's house, we spent an evening at the beach and discovered how much Emmaline loves it!  The water was freezing cold, but she didn't seem to mind as she crawled though the shallow water.  Like any baby, she loved the sand.  Now we need to get her sand box set up at home.

July 14 ~ With the weather a little overcast and the boat ready to go, we took Emmaline out for her first boat ride and fishing trip.  She was little nervous at first but calmed down once I put on her earmuffs to block out the engine noise.

At first she wasn't so sure...
 Giggling with Daddy
Trying to touch the fish Daddy caught... YUCK!
The ride to shore - a few minutes later she was sound asleep.

July 18 and 19 ~ Jeff and I treated our nieces and nephews to a camping trip for their birthdays.  We headed out Monday with 5 extra kids, two cars and the boat for some fun.  The trip didn't quite end up as we had hoped but the kids had a blast spending time together.  Roasting marshmallows was definitely a hit!

And that brings us to now...

Emmaline is crawling around the house.  I am glad that she only takes about one crawling exploration a day so I don't feel like I have to watch her every single moment. She is a much happier baby now that she is able to move around on her own.  We have one more month of summer.  I can't believe its half over already.  I am sure there will be more adventures to come!

Watching her favorite cartoon... I think she got this from me.
Waiting for the tub to fill with water - She's a water baby for sure!

Drinking out of mommy's cup.  Yes. Really.

Emmaline on the move

After taking a nice lavender scented bubble bath this morning, I came out into the living room to find Jeff relaxing on the couch and Emmaline standing at the front window watching the traffic go by.  Within about 15 minutes, she had made her way across the front of the window.  Then to our surprise, she had "walked" herself over to the chair by the window and...

before we knew it, she had walked to the edge of the chair.  SO...

I put another chair in front of her and she continued her journey.
Then I moved the first chair to the front of the line...
and I discovered she was on a quest to walk to the computer.  :)
She is so proud of herself!

A parade, a campfire, and a little chair

On Saturday, Jeff and I packed up the truck for 24 hours of excitement in Bridgeport.  Jeff was participating in the town's parade with some of his students.  The students are part of a program called AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination).  AVID teaches kids study skills, and organization while encouraging them to be challenged academically and get prepared for college. The kids were provided with fabric paint and shirts to decorate for the parade.  They did a fabulous job!  I love these kids!

After walking through town in the parade and attending the town fair, we pitched our tent and decided to sit back and relax.

We met a nice elderly couple in the camp ground that took us fishing up above the Chief Joseph Dam.  Jeff cast his line out and we waited for close to 30 minutes.  Soon Jeff reeled in a 4 pound 11 ounce fish.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out at camp.

The next morning, Emmaline was very content playing with rocks while Jeff and I packed.

Emmaline is ready for some more camping.
